2tbsplow-sodium soy sauce
1tspmaple syrupapprox. 7g
1tspsesame oil toasted
1clovegarlicminced; approx. 1 tsp or 5g
½tspwhite sesame seedsapprox. 1g
½tspblack sesame seedsapprox. 1g
1green onion thinly sliced; green part only
½red cayenne chilithinly sliced; or substitute Thai chili; optional
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, and minced garlic.
Carefully peel back the plastic seal from the tofu package. Place a clean kitchen towel over the surface of the tofu and gently press to absorb any excess moisture. Tilt the container gently to drain off any excess water.
Place a serving plate upside down over the open tofu package. Carefully flip both together to invert the tofu onto the plate. Lift off the container, leaving the tofu intact on the plate.
Using a chopstick or knife, gently poke or score the surface of the tofu in a crosshatch pattern, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart. This helps the sauce seep in.
Drizzle the sauce evenly over the tofu. Top with sliced green onion, red chili (if using), and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
