Blue Spirulina Smoothie

This vibrant blue spirulina smoothie is creamy, naturally sweet, and loaded with good-for-you ingredients like banana, blueberries, and avocado.

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas frozen; approx. 1⅓ cups mashed or 265g total
  • ½ cup blueberries frozen; approx. 70g
  • ¼ cup avocado fresh or frozen; very small; approx. 60g
  • 1 tbsp almond butter no added sugar or oil; approx. 17g
  • cups unsweetened soy milk add more if needed; approx. 360ml
  • ¼ cup vanilla protein powder approx. 30g, depending on brand
  • 1 tbsp blue spirulina powder approx. 7g
  • ¼ cup coconut yogurt plus 1–2 tbsp extra for decorating glass (optional); approx. 56g + 14–28g
  • 1 tsp chia seeds approx. 4g
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract approx. 5ml

Instructions

  • Add the frozen bananas, blueberries, avocado, almond butter, soy milk, protein powder, spirulina, ¼ cup coconut yogurt, chia seeds, and vanilla extract to a high-speed blender.
  • Blend until completely smooth and creamy.
  • If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash of extra soy milk and blend again to reach your desired consistency.
  • To decorate the glass, use the back of a spoon to swirl 1–2 tablespoons of extra coconut yogurt around the inside of the glass (optional).
  • Pour the smoothie into the glass and serve immediately.
