Ingredients You’ll Need
Honestly the beauty of this recipe is that it is so simple and really lets these fresh veggies and fruits shine. You only need 3 ingredients for this beet juice:
- Beets
- Carrots
- Oranges
Instructions
Okay let’s make our beet juice! Here’s how to prepare it.
Step One: Remove orange peel.
Step Two: Trim carrot ends. You can leave the carrot skin on or off. I recommend peeling if you prefer a sweeter juice.
Step Three: Trim the beet to remove stalks and tough ends.
Step Four: Blend the beets, carrots and oranges in an electric juicer.
Step Five: Serve immediately and enjoy your fresh beet juice blend!
Substitutions & Variations
The great thing about juice recipes, is that really anything goes. If you’d like to get creative and try adding some other fruits or veggies, go for it! Here are some ingredient ideas to experiment with:
- Pineapple
- Watermelon
- Celery
- Ginger
- Dragon Fruit
Equipment
You need an electric, high power juicer for this recipe. I like the Breville Juice Fountain Plus.
Storage
Freshly squeezed juices are best enjoyed immediately, but of course you can also keep this in the refrigerator in a sealed bottle or container. It’s best consumed within 24 hours and make sure to give it a good shake as it will separate.
You can also freeze the juice in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Make sure to leave a generous amount of empty space as it will expand as it freezes. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then give it a good shake when ready to drink.
Expert Tip
If you plan to keep the beet juice in the refrigerator, add a few drops of lemon juice. The citric acid in lemon juice acts as a natural preservative, helping to slow oxidation and maintain the juice’s freshness, flavor, and nutritional content for a longer period. It can extend the refrigerated shelf life of the juice slightly beyond the typical 24 hours, up to 48 hours.
FAQ
According to Healthline, beet juice is rich in nitrates, which may improve blood flow, lower blood pressure, enhance exercise performance, and support heart health.
Beet juice is a healthy drink, but as with all foods, it should be consumed in moderation. Drinking it every day in large quantities may lead to excessive sugar intake and potential gastrointestinal discomfort.
